Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle in Coventry, you must be at least 21 years old, although age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence, suitable for the vehicle category and held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement, is required. You must also present valid identification, proof of current address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Coventry office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The total payment along with a security deposit is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with secure transactions handled by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection in Coventry, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and requires your signature. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as when you received it, as refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please contact us immediately, as late returns may incur extra charges. Insurance and Liability Overview

Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless you have opted for further coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. Please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for specific information. Keep in mind that late cancellations or missed pickups may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful purpose is prohibited. This includes activities such as racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous driving behavior. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed, nor is sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using the vehicle for purposes it was not intended for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries without proper permission are also strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Coventry will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the rental amount paid within the last 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Coventry
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
Terms Modifications
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
